Oct 7 Looms

About Oct. 7, 2023, from an IDF general:  Civilization is on the line. Civility is on the line.  Humanity is on the line. Morality is being tested – life or death, kindness or savagery, good will or fear. There is no option but to defeat this evil that has reared its head in southern Israel.

What happened a year ago has happened before and will happen again until Jesus Himself will rule on earth and end Satan’s terror and that of despots and evil men doing evil things.

Oct. 7 has happened before.  When Babylon conquered Jerusalem in 586 B.C., they staged their captives in Ramah, just north of Jerusalem, for movement to Babylon.  At that site, the people were brutalized, babies murdered and captives hooked up for a long march into captivity.

These three verses give us a glimpse into that event:

Psalm 137:8-9, O daughter of Babylon, who are to be destroyed, happy the one who repays you as you have served us! Happy the one who takes and dashes your little ones against the rock!  What was happening was the murder of children as their mothers watched in horror and with great agony as they themselves were being brutalized.

Jeremiah 31:15, “A voice was heard in Ramah, lamentation and bitter weeping, Rachel weeping for her children, refusing to be comforted for her children, because they are no more.”  Can you hear the wailing?

II Chronicles 33:11, Therefore the Lord brought upon them the captains of the army of the king of Assyria, who took Manasseh with hooks, (a hook was dropped into the jaw and out the soft pallet or between the bones of the lower arm with a loop on the other end so they could be tied together.)

Another Oct. 7 is found in the Christmas story.  When Jesus was just a tyke – likely between ages 1 and 2 – foreigners tipped off a wicked Herod to the birth of a King who then sent soldiers into the village of Bethlehem to kill all the male babies under age three. “A voice was heard in Ramah, lamentation, weeping, and great mourning, Rachel weeping for her children, refusing to be comforted, because they are no more,” Matthew 2:18.

Just a few days ago we were reminded of the gross brutality and savagery of some on others when we remembered that 9-11 event in 2001.  You can imagine the screams of those on the planes seeing stewardesses brutally murdered and realizing their lives were about ended.  There are some videos where you can hear the thumps of those who jumped from high up as the heat and smoke below them was overwhelming.  What a horrible decision to be forced to make.  And then the shock on faces running away from the scene that day.  What a horrible, terrible, wicked day!

In the aftermath of the brutal, wicked, sick, terrible, evil attack on people partying in southern Israel on Oct. 7, 2023, it was said by some that the killers were justified in their evil.  It was suggested that Gaza was a giant prison controlled by Israel thus the “justified” violence toward their captors. But the truth seems to be that the terrorist group, Hamas, are the captors. They demanded that the Gaza citizens stay in their homes so they not see the leaflets dropped by Israel telling to them to flee as an invasion was looming.  Hamas wants them to die.  Hamas is impeding the exit of Gazans for they are human shields and their death is a boon for their cause as it turns the world against Israel and draws other Muslim states alongside.

Furthermore, the “cousins” of those who live in Gaza, the Egyptians, do not allow them to escape from Gaza – thus Egyptians being captors themselves.

Jonah Goldberg in an op/ed in the OWH in October 2023 noted that Israel was accused of making Gaza a prison.  Jonah makes note that if when out of their “prison” they rape, murder, decapitate, burn and slash, then prison is the right place for them!

It is amazing the mental disconnect or mental illness that affects those who scream against racism and yet are so radically racist against the Jews.  Do they not hear themselves?  What is the darkness that pollutes their ability to think?  I know the answer:

The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. John 10:10a.
