Misc Things

An interesting day was today.

  1. I was told about a young girl spreading her wings as an early teen against her parent’s knowledge until just recently caught. It is a devastating situation.
  2. I was told of a family turmoil that has members both angry and confused.
  3. I was told of a serious accident of a third party that has a family deeply stressed and somewhat troubled between one another.

Wednesday is my Mom’s birthday – 1926.  What a wonderful, giving, joyful, serious Christian!  She was interested in everyone she met – interested in their life and interested in their eternity.  She was a very special person and she was my Mom!  Thank you, Lord!

My Dad has an appointment with the surgeon that cut him up back in April in Omaha seeking victory over a scalp cancer.  It appears to have been successful – Amazing!  He is planning on being with us Friday afternoon thru Sunday afternoon – YEA!

I mostly likely had COVID during the middle of last week but was good by Sunday and weathered a big day on Sunday with no setbacks (baptized a granddaughter).  I feel very good at this writing.

Last week I conducted a graveside service for a 36-year-old male who died unexpectedly.  What a sad, sad event.  Just reminded that every day is important for the next day is not guaranteed.  The boy sent his dad a text a few months earlier stating that he loved him.  What a precious keepsake!

We had a report yesterday from a person working in India telling about honor killings of family members who turn from Hinduism and that there are strict laws against conversion teachings with prison time as punishment.  He talked about the great need for Jesus and the great obstacles to Jesus.  I was reminded again how good we have it here in the United States.

It was on August 24, 1814, that the British burned Washington, D. C. which was not a complete loss for a few hours later a great storm rolled in that doused the fires, threw some British canons around and sent the British packing.  God allowed, God limited and God preserved us a nation!

 The British soldiers had just finished up with Napoleon and were thus very seasoned and formidable.  Had God not intervened, we might have not have survived as a nation and would today be a British colony.  God had other plans!

It is my belief that a chief, it not the chief, purpose for establishing and growing the U.S. was the restoration and development of Israel.  And now today we are turning away from that idea to our own detriment.  These next few days will be most interesting as anti-Semitic protestors in Chicago seek to influence the Democratic party to turn fully against Israel.  I believe such would be a grave mistake.

And most importantly, I’m remembering that God is GREAT!

Psalm 47:1-2
Oh, clap your hands, all you peoples!
Shout to God with the voice of triumph!
For the Lord Most High is awesome;
He is a great King over all the earth.
