Crazy Days

Israel is in a bad spot.

First is the push by Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to change the judiciary system of appointments.  Traditionally it has been the court itself that fills its own vacancies and fills lower courts openings.  Netanyahu wants the legislature to have that duty as is done in the United States.

The top general of the IDF (Israel Defense Forces) spoke against judicial change yesterday so Netanyahu fired him.  In response, the streets filled with protesters.

Then the region is troubled these days.  For the past week the U.S., who has two bases in Syria, is in a mini-war with an Islamic terrorist group who killed an American and wounded a few in a drone attack a couple of days ago.  Since then, there have been daily exchanges.

And there was the three-day conference between Vladimir Putin and Xi Jinping in Moscow a few days ago. [Our president might talk to Xi for an hour or two every few months.]  There is word that a deal was struck to exchange goods no longer using the American dollar.  If such is true, there will be huge ramifications worldwide and soon!

And there was the agreement between Iran and Saudi Arabia brokered by China a few weeks ago.  Another huge development.

This all spells “INVITE” – an invitation for attacks on Israel and likely soon!

These are dangerous days for Israel!

And closer to home, Honduras just established diplomatic relations with China and turned away from Taiwan.  In fact, only 13 countries now acknowledge Taiwan as a viable nation.  This is very, very troubling especially for the USA who is very bound to Taiwan economically and militarily.  This further INVITES China to attack Taiwan and all the sooner.

Lastly is the debt that we have incurred by grossly outspending income.  The debt ceiling will have to be raised – and soon, but some won’t agree to such unless there are significant cuts to spending.  And in all that spending, the military budget was only raised 3% which does not even keep up with inflation!  And the military is very short on hardware in part because of supplying it to the Ukraine war effort.  Debt and an underserved military are not good things!

Such crazy days!

But not for those of us who are held by Jesus and have our names in His book and for whom He is preparing a place!  We are good for the days ahead because we are good for the eternal future! YEAH!

Do pray for our leaders, for Israel, for Taiwan, for our military and for us – the United States of America.
