Marriage Is?

On Tuesday the Senate passed the Respect for Marriage Act which codified same-sex Marriages.  This in large part because of a fear that the Supreme Court would overturn the Obergefell ruling.  [On June 26, 2015, the Court which gave same-sex marriages protection in that case.]  On January 22, 1973 the court had given abortion federal protection in the once so very famous Roe v. Wade court ruling.  But on June 24, 2022 the court reversed that decision declaring that the Constitution gave them no such power.  They ruled that the abortion issue was a state issue, not a federal issue.  So a fear swept over the homosexual and same-sex marriage community that the court might possibly do the same with their situation.  So, in the summer (July 19) the House passed the Respect for Marriage Act and the Senate followed suit just this past Tuesday.

Most of the headlines Nov. 30, 2022, were that the Senate had redefined marriage.

A bold – BIG – move by those who think that they know best!

From Al Mohler, wng, 11/30/22 – A massive victory for the moral revolutionaries

Some LGBTQ activists and their allies made clear that the Respect for Marriage Act did not go far enough. Anyone who thinks the LGBTQ movement will be satisfied with forcing states to recognize same-sex marriages is delusional.

“It would be great if the bill went further,” said Hawaii’s Sen. Brian Schatz, “but we don’t have the votes to go further.” Not yet, but probably soon. Topping Schatz in candor was Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren: “I want to see the day when we have 100 votes in favor of no discrimination, not just for who we love, but also in any activity.” There seem to be no boundaries on her enthusiasm.

President Joe Biden celebrated the bill’s passage by declaring that “love is love, and Americans should have the right to marry the person they love.”

Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., was gleeful in advance of the Senate vote, tweeting both his excitement and his fashion statement: “This is personal to me, and today I’m wearing the tie I wore at my daughter’s wedding to her wife.”

So the Senate has redefined marriage!  And this in the face of Jesus!

Jesus in Matthew 19:4-6:

“Haven’t you read,” he replied, “that at the beginning the Creator ‘made them male and female,’ and said, ‘For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh’?  So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore, what God has joined together, let no one separate.”

And God’s response?

Psalm 2:1-9,  Why do the nations rage, and the people plot a vain thing?
The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the Lord and against His Anointed, saying,

“Let us break Their bonds in pieces and cast away their cords from us.”  (Nov. 29, 2022)

He who sits in the heavens shall laugh; the Lord shall hold them in derision.
Then He shall speak to them in His wrath, and distress them in His deep displeasure:

“Yet I have set My King on My holy hill of Zion.”

   I will declare the decree:

The Lord has said to Me, You are My Son, today I have begotten You. Ask of Me, and I will give You the nations for Your inheritance, and the ends of the earth for Your possession. You shall break them with a rod of iron; You shall dash them to pieces like a potter’s vessel.
