In 1997, we were living in South Dakota where we experienced a “500 year” flood from mountains of snow on deeply frozen ground followed by a quick warming – and what happens? A Flood! A mess!
What we have today is the rise of the CCP, the rise of science as the all-wise authority, and the rise of socialism over democracy which make for “the perfect storm” (of Oct. 30, 1991 and thus the movie). It seems as though we have come to the official end of Christianity as a political and moral force in America for here, in very broad strokes, are what we find:
Catholics – Biden is a Catholic – he is contrary to much Catholic – Its influence is waning
Liberals – busy about climate change, woke, reparations, and cancel culture
Evangelicals – about a message of love/grace, being relevant, and social justice
Biblicists/Fundamentalists – deemed bigots as they are not inclusive, nor tolerant (radicals)
In 2022 and beyond, Christians had better understand the critical truths – the non-negotiables – of the faith.
Here are ten non-negotiables taken from the opening chapters of Genesis:
- God is triune (“let us”) thus He is love, fellowship, and unity, 1:26-28.
- God speaks – the Bible is God’s take, rules, and will declared, 1:3, 2:16-17.
- A six-day creation – the universe thus has design, order, control, and Sunday! 2:1-2
- Male and Female – two genders are in His image so both of great worth and responsibility.
- Marriage declared “very good”, 1:31, with headship and complementation for rearing children.
- Satan and sin – God sees evil and brings consequences and judgment, 3:14-19.
- Eve, the “mother of living”, 3:15, 20 – her descendent, Jesus: virgin born, sinless, bruised
- Salvation is solely God’s work, 3:21, in the death of Jesus is grace through faith alone.
- Godly line – the church, 4:26, 5:6 – a Godly family of people
- An afterlife – another world, 5:24 – Enoch snatched away, 7:22 a new world
In 1521, Luther, standing in front of his books, was asked if they were his works. They gave him overnight to think about his answer for to claim them as his likely meant his death. The next day’s official transcript quotes him as saying, “Unless I am convicted by Scripture and plain reason (I do not accept the authority of popes and councils because they have contradicted each other), my conscience is captive to the Word of God. I cannot and will not recant anything, for to go against conscience is neither right nor safe. So help me God. Amen.” He might have also said (not clear in the historical records) – “Here I stand. I can do no other, so help me God.”
So, what do you believe? For what reasons are you willing to lose your job? For what stands are you willing to lose the love and friendship of a child? What are you willing to die for? To deny Jesus can’t be an option for God said He loves Jesus and to deny what God loves cannot be good in any situation.
Is there a viable option to God? Science? Laboratory science is amazing, but historical science is “voodoo.” Such science says that the exactness of tides, the precision of the earth’s rotation, the amazing order of the periodic chart, and the second law of thermodynamics are all by chance. No serious thinking person should give historical science a second thought. The only logical explanation for the order of the universe is a mind – an organizer – a God! And that God has spoken. Know what He has declared and be prepared to stand up for His claims.
