RRR

RRR – Review – Review – Review!

II Peter 1:12-15, For this reason I will not be negligent to (1) remind you always of these things, though you know and are established in the present truth. Yes, I think it is right, as long as I am in this tent, to stir you up (2) by reminding you, knowing that shortly I must put off my tent, just as our Lord Jesus Christ showed me. Moreover I will be careful to ensure that you (3) always have a reminder of these things after my decease.  RRR!

RRR – Reading Railroad

Reading Railroad, as a railroad, disappeared into Conrail more than 40 years ago. But it is still possible to “take a ride on the Reading.” This can be done when playing the board game Monopoly. (from trains.com) RRR

RRR – Reading, aRithmetic and Remembering

The three “Rs” – reading, ‘riting and ‘rithmetic.  A popular view exists that to correct the problems of our educational systems, we have to get back to basics and mainly concentrate our efforts on the three “Rs” – reading, ‘riting and ‘rithmetic.  (from appliedscholastics.org)

A little different spin on what constitutes curriculum basics…  Reading is critical but what can be folded into reading is “‘riting” as both have to do with letter groupings and meanings whether being read or written.  ‘Rithmetic is about the understanding and use of numbers.  That is, numbers in math, science, accounting, etc.  What is missing in too many school curriculum today is “remembering” what happened in days past with people and between peoples.  The Bible is full of history from which to learn about life and living.  Remembering successes and failures of the past are rich lessons for today.  Good school is about RRR.

RRR – Righteousness, Rejoicing and Repentant

A true Christian should be marked by at least three things – Righteousness, Rejoicing and Repentance.  Righteousness is that they accepted Jesus as their Savior and are thus clothed in a robe of righteousness (Isaiah 61:10) giving them acceptance before God and the only sure entrance into Heaven upon death (John 14:6).  For such a blessing they talk of Jesus, worship Jesus, and serve Jesus.  They are also marked by Rejoicing.  Being freed from the bondage of guilt, fear, and anger, they rejoice.  They rejoice in their Jesus, in all of life – bumps and all – knowing God is present and working.  They also rejoice in the successes of others (they are about others as was Jesus!).  While saved and freed (Righteous and Rejoicing), they yet sin but they are quick to repent and seek restoration both before God and before those whom they have sinned against.  They are humble, seek forgiveness, and forgive – they are Repentant.  RRR should mark those who are truly Jesus people!

RRR – Radical Religious Right – here is purportedly what this group is about:

It didn’t take me long to realize the radical element of the Religious Right wanted to gain political power of our government and turn our democratic way of life into a “Pax Americana” or a “Holy American Empire.” …Because of the strong control the radical Religious Right already has on our government, I know without a doubt that they will do anything to keep that control. If the Democrats show any signs of serious victories before election day, I would not be surprised to see one or a number of “terrorist attacks” a few days before November 5. (from archive.democrats.com)

Turning America into a Christian nation means fundamentally changing our system of law and governance. The religious right wants America to become a Christian Theocracy – a government which bases its laws on a strict biblical interpretation of the will of God as defined in the Old Testament…God’s will would be interpreted for Americans by radical fundamentalist Christian authorities. Most of us are just becoming aware of this extreme view of government, but the religious right has been building support for this concept of theocracy since the 1970s when Francis Schaeffer activated the evangelical right to take up the cause of “Christianizing the United States.” (from ClaireConner.com)

There is no appreciable difference between Islamic fundamentalism and the radical Christian right. Indeed, it isn’t too great an exaggeration to say that the Islamic Republic of Iran is a fairly clear model of where the religious right wants to take the United States. Only the details differ.  (from sklatch.net)
