Random Notes

Pastor Jack Hibbs recently left his viewers with this brief truth journey:

Genesis 3:9, Then the Lord God called to Adam and said to him, “Where are you?”

Jeremiah 2:5, Thus says the Lord: “What injustice have your fathers found in Me, that they have gone far from Me, have followed idols, and have become idolaters?

John 1:11, He came to His own, and His own did not receive Him.

John 11:35, Jesus wept!

A friend shared this with me:

A pastor some 50 years ago talked about “pocketbook Christianity’ meaning people write a check and believe God is pleased and people write a check and the church is pleased.

What is of much greater value is time.  It is pretty easy to write a check and then go on with life. It becomes a much greater challenge to give time.

Some G. K. Chesterton Quotes (there are 3,073 of them):

“It is absurd for the Evolutionist to complain that it is unthinkable for an admittedly unthinkable God to make everything out of nothing, and then pretend that it is more thinkable that nothing should turn itself into everything.”
– G. K. Chesterton

“The Christian ideal has not been tried and found wanting. It has been found difficult; and left untried.”
–  G. K. Chesterton

“I don’t need a church to tell me I’m wrong where I already know I’m wrong; I need a Church to tell me I’m wrong where I think I’m right.”
– G. K. Chesterton

“We fear men so much, because we fear God so little.  One fear cures another.  When man’s terror scares you, turn your thoughts to the wrath of God.”
