Days Hold Stories

History should cause pause, rethinks and resets.

It is critical to know one’s history.

These are on my calendar of notes for three days in April:

1947 tornadoes in KS, OK, and TX killed 169

1950 I was baptized – later believer baptized

1959 first seven astronauts were announced

1986 Matthew Alexander was born

2003 statue of Saddam Hussein toppled

2005 Prince Charles married Camilla

1923 first Yankee Stadium opened

1942 Doolittle’s Raiders bombed Japan

1945 Ernie Pyle killed by the Japanese

1946 League of Nations closed

1955 Albert Einstein died

1983 Beirut Embassy bombed

April 30

1789 George Washington took office

1803 Louisiana Purchase made

1900 Casey Jones died crashing his train into one stopped

1939 first TV broadcast (from the Empire State Building)

1975 Saigon fell – Vietnam war over – last troops out at 5:30

1993 Monica Sales stabbed

Every day matters!

What happened in history matters for it influences us yet – sometimes greatly!

Psalm 78:2-4, I will utter dark sayings of old, which we have heard and known, and our fathers have told us.  We will not hide them from their children, telling to the generation to come the praises of the LORD.
