Greta

Dear SSB family:

This was my Hope message sent this morning to those on that list:

Ephesians 2:7, That in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.

What a future!  Exceeding rich grace and kindness.  “The half cannot be fancied” – it can only now be dimly imagined!  What a future!

This made me ponder again on our Greta who is there –

About yesterday – her funeral – what a grand occasion!  (that is some strange talk for a funeral but…).  I was blessed in many ways.

I was blessed by the kitchen crew – special thanks to Whitney and special thanks to Scott who teamed with Greta often to provide homemade ice cream for church events.  The evening before she died, Greta had some of Scott’s cold concoction.  The meal presentation and dining service were GREAT!

Thanks to a number working behind the scenes – set up people, AV people, and those helping our guests – thanks!

And thanks to Terry for many, many services he rendered to Greta and to us over the years – and for his ministry in music. He blessed Greta, he blessed and blesses us, and he blessed the family. Thanks, Terry!

Thanks to Troy and Shawna for not only being joyfully available (Troy’s work is demanding but he is able to make these ministry opportunities happen in part because he gives his boss more than the average employee gives sometimes waking at 4:45 AM with work on his mind).  The special words in “When We All Get to Heaven” were fun AND true!

Thanks to Rhonda and Barney for insights into a very special lady – very well done!  Thanks!

The share time during the luncheon was very, very good as each who shared brought forth the special ways Greta blessed us.

Then there were the squirt guns!  FUN!  Sorry that the sleeved straws did not come in.  We will have a “straw event” for her sometime in the future.

The interment was also a rich time.

What a day!

And what a day of weather – the middle of January or was it April?  Humm???

Thanks to each of you who carved out time to support the family and say thanks to God for His wonderful gift to us all.  It was delightful to reconnect with some who were of us and have moved on.  I had numerous blessings from SSB regular as well as others.  And some great notes from online attendees.  What a crowd!   May that celebration of life be viewed many times ahead and used by God.

And Jeremiah 29:11 – God’s precious Word with a different take on what we normally think yet a powerful piece for such a time as that.  (I am worried about a lawsuit!  I hear that three attorneys who were present at the funeral immediately afterward sought out Ron and gave him their card wishing to defend his dad’s work in court.  Such I was later told.  OK, the whole thing is a KIDDING that Greta would fully approve of!  Blame her!)

“My heart is overflowing with a good theme” – Greta and her God!

THANKS!   PK
