Micah 5:2

Micah 5:2, “But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, though you are little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of you shall come forth to Me the One to be Ruler in Israel, whose goings forth are from of old, from everlasting.”

This is an important and thus impactful verse in dealing with Jews and with non-Jews for it prophecies three very important Christmas truths:

  1. It will happen in Bethlehem.
  2. A great Ruler is coming.
  3. This person will pre-exist (be from eternity past).

Translated: a man born in Bethlehem is God’s anointed and is God.

The promised Ruler of Israel will be eternal and born in the Jewish village of Bethlehem.

Translated:  the Christ is Lord named Jesus.

God will take on flesh and be born in Bethlehem and be anointed the Messiah – the Christ.

Translated:  the Lord Jesus Christ

SO…

Acts 2:36, “Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly that God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Christ.”

Acts 15:11, But we believe that through the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ we shall be saved.

Acts 16:31, So they said, “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved.”

Romans 5:1, Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ,

Micah 5:2 teaches us that the human Baby born in Bethlehem that day some 2,000 years ago is who the Bible promised was the One coming to redeem and reign as the everlasting king and is God Himself.

Micah 5:2 teaches that an insignificant place (not the least among the many of Judah) can be the birthplace of a King.  That means that any person, regardless of how insignificant they might be, can have the King born into their life through a humble, repentant faith with a confession and plea.

Micah 5:2 calls men to believe in God’s Word, accept His servant – the Lord Jesus Christ – and find a fulfilling purpose in life.  Be saved today!

May a Christmas event happen in your life today.
