9/11 plus 20

This Saturday morning (09/11/21) at SSB

There is little doubt that our country is at a crossroads or a significant intersection of roads where “vendors” are peddling their fix for the nation’s malaise each promising a utopia, blessings or a pot of gold at the end.  The question is which road will we take?  Even for many “Christians” the road to take is not clear.  So, what might we do in order to know what to promote and to pray for?  God gave us a means:

II Chronicles 7:13-15, When I shut up heaven and there is no rain, or command the locusts to devour the land, or send pestilence among My people, if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.  Now My eyes will be open and My ears attentive to prayer made in this place.

To old Israel, who were a mess and amiss with injustice, paganism, economic troubles and bad leadership; God offered a solution:  pray seeking His face and turn from their evil ways.

God being the same and we being so much like those peoples back then, IF we want His wisdom and leading for the road now and for future well-being, a duty is offered.  If we will seek Him and humble ourselves before Him and turn away from our poor, bad, and pagan thinking, He will respond.

As did those of Nineveh!

Jonah 3:4-5, And Jonah began to enter the city on the first day’s walk. Then he cried out and said, “Yet forty days, and Nineveh shall be overthrown!” So the people of Nineveh believed God, proclaimed a fast, and put on sackcloth, from the greatest to the least of them… turn from his evil way and from the violence that is in his hands…

So, 10 …and God relented

This Saturday and Sunday, September 11-12, 2021, will be given to the seeking the face of God, praying to God, and desiring to understand our sins and idolatry that we might turn from such and more fully love and serve Him pleading that He might relent and grant us favor both now and for our children and their children.

We will gather on 9/11 plus 20 (Sept. 11, 2021) at 8:00 for a common breakfast followed by reminders of the attack that God allowed that killed many of our fellow citizens and greatly altered our well-being and hopes.  We will pause at six key times (using the EST of the events) to pray knit together along with video reminders and teachings.  Virgil Walker will close Saturday morning with a message at 10:45.

On Sunday, Sept. 12, Virgil will further help us to understand our rebellion and sins and God’s call during the SS hour, the worship time, and after a common meal.

It is one thing to sense a dark enveloping and a shaking in the foundation, it is another thing to address it.  The one thing we must do is look to Him who created all and sustains all (Col. 1:16-17) and who judges all (John 5:29) and seek His wisdom and help so that we might change – for without Him we can do nothing.

May this special time be pleasing to our God – not just for our future and that of our children and neighbors, but for His glory.
