“What a difference a day makes!”  written by Maria Grever in 1934

God talked about “days” in the Ten Commandments:  Exodus 20:11, For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day.

This is about the creation days and the day of rest making for the 7-day week that rules the lives of people all over the world.  God then had Moses place His word, written on stone tablets by His hand, in the ark that sat in the Holy of Holies visited by man but once a year.

Deuteronomy 10:2, And I will write on the tablets the words that were on the first tablets, which you broke; and you shall put them in the ark.

Moses then wrote the first five books of the Bible as directed by God which includes the creation account recorded in Genesis 1-3.  When completed, Moses was instructed to put his writings BESIDE the ark – NOT in the ark.

Deuteronomy 31:26, “Take this Book of the Law, and put it beside the ark of the covenant of the Lord your God, that it may be there as a witness against you.”

So, first God wrote about creation being in six “days”.  Then, He had Moses write of those “days” in more detail in Genesis 1.   The use of the word “day” and seven days was distinct and clearly God’s call.

Many Christians claim that the days of Genesis 1 are eons or ages or long, long periods of time.  They claim that the use of the word “day” is figurative or symbolic.  Yet, what did God tell Aaron and Miriam who claimed an equal status with Moses?  “Hear now My words: If there is a prophet among you, I, the Lord, make Myself known to him in a vision; I speak to him in a dream. Not so with My servant Moses; He is faithful in all My house. I speak with him face to face, even plainly, and not in dark sayings (riddles).” Numbers 12:6-8

If Genesis 1 is not exactly as declared, but rather vague or symbolic, then what God declared of His relationship with Moses is not true.

Beware and be wise:

Matthew 15:9, And in vain they worship Me, teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.
