I Peter 4:2-6, …that he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh for the lusts of men, but for the will of God. For we have spent enough of our past lifetime in doing the will of the Gentiles… In regard to these, they think it strange that you do not run with them in the same flood of dissipation (evil), speaking evil of you… to those who are dead that they might be judged according to men in the flesh.
Upper story people (those truly saved) are different than (not PC, not agreeing or joining the ways, thinking, or vision of) those of the lower story. Thus, the uppers are deemed enemies by the lowers. They are attacked in thought, word, and even physically – maybe killed.
Be not surprised: Matthew 10:24-25, A disciple is not above his teacher, nor a servant above his master. “It is enough for a disciple that he be like his teacher, and a servant like his master. If they have called the master of the house Beelzebub, how much more will they call those of his household!”
Matthew 10:34, Do not think that I came to bring peace on earth. I did not come to bring peace but a sword.
Matthew 10:22, And you will be hated by all for My name’s sake.
I Peter 4:12-13, Beloved, do not think it strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened to you; but rejoice to the extent that you partake of Christ’s sufferings, that when His glory is revealed, you may also be glad with exceeding joy.
as with Jesus – Isaiah 53:3-5, He is despised and rejected by men, a Man of sorrows and acquainted with grief. And we hid, as it were, our faces from Him; He was despised, and we did not esteem Him. Surely He has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows; Yet we esteemed Him stricken, smitten by God, and afflicted. But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities;
II Corinthians 12:9-10, And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in needs, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ’s sake.
II Corinthians 13:4, For though He was crucified in weakness, yet He lives by the power of God. For we also are weak in Him, but we shall live with Him by the power of God toward you.
Philippians 2:17, Yes, and if I am being poured out as a drink offering on the sacrifice and service of your faith, I am glad and rejoice with you all.
