Social Solutions

Mass shootings, face coverings, police shootings, rioting, and boycotts – especially carried out by large corporations against state laws passed by representatives of her people.  Then there is the threat of hyper-inflation and the stock market is “crazy” – why?  And Bitcoin soars – what?  There is the flood at the border (especially of those under-age), talk of changing the Supreme Court number, and a host of policy changes without the use of Congress.

“Over there” is Iran’s actions and China building up along the Red Sea, pressing Taiwan, and pressing Alaskan fishing.  There is Russia with thousands of troops on the Ukrainian border.  And there is growing talk of wars and rumors of war coupled with civil disobedience and strife everywhere.

From any combination of those issues comes forth a cry for change and this statement: “We can’t continue to live this way!” Such is a common thought and call from both political sides.

So, what is the solution?  Or better asked, “What is the problem?”

I suggest that there are three problems among many:

  1. Government policies
  2. Education which promotes a trophy and therapy for all
  3. The removal of God thought and talk from public life

I just heard a governor go off on our society for not being there to help poverty-stricken mothers with pre-natal care, for exorbitant punishment of children of color in schools, and for too many children being reared in poverty.  His solution was more money and more services for those not thriving in our country.  His solution was more socialism – or even full socialism.  Is that the solution?  I suggest not.  The answer is to press for and help reestablish intact homes – children reared in homes with both a father and a mother.

Why is this not true today as it was just a half century ago?  Government policies!  The government has created this collapse of the family through programs and money handouts, which have encouraged having children without fathers, anti-work programs, and children reared by day-care so moms can work.  With good intentions, poor people are cared for so they don’t languish, but government actions have actually worked against a good solution.  Their “solutions” have undermined the need for an intact family and have resulted in growing chaos.

[It has been argued that the most detrimental policy enacted by the government is the minimum wage law. The current stimulus and unemployment monies are keeping people at home rather than pressing them back work which 1. provides a paycheck, 2. helps a business prosper increasing tax revenue, and 3. gives a person worth and thus mental health improvement.]

Another policy or cultural change that has played a great role in the current chaos is the loosening of sexual restraint.  Today’s sexual wantonness abounds, reducing the need for marriage and bonding, which is so critical for rearing children to maturity and wellness.

I also believe the school mentality that doesn’t allow anyone to fail, but rather all excel, is a problem.  Such is just not the real world.  It causes nearly everyone pain.  Those who might zoom ahead are held back and those who get “participation trophies” are given a false idea that even with poor effort they should be rewarded.  By not failing they don’t learn to knock on other doors to find their niche in life.  Furthermore, solutions for discipline ills are pills or sessions.  Kids don’t learn to face their sin so to confess it, repent, and change.  Rather, their anger and guilt remain which they carry onward to their detriment with occasional social explosions.

I also think the mentality of “separation of church and state” has been a great detriment to the nation’s well-being.  Removing school prayer, Bibles in schools, chaplains who actually know God, and the Ten Commandments from talk and sight have all served to loosen restraints on anger, greed, and lying – things plaguing us today.
