Ahead for Each Person and for the Planet

STANDING STONE BIBLE CHURCH | Sermon Notes | March 21, 2021

Ahead for each person and for the planet…

  1. Death (Heb 9:27), followed by Eternal Life – Luke 16:22-23, So it was that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels to Abraham’s bosom. The rich man also died and was buried.  And being in torments in Hades, he lifted up his eyes and saw Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.
  2. And/Or the Rapture – I Cor 15:51-52, I tell you a mystery: We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed – in a moment.

And the Resurrection of the Church – I Thess 4:16-17, For the Lord Himself will descend…and the dead in Christ will rise first.  Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air.

  1. A Tribulation (Daniel’s 70th) – Daniel 9:19, “O Lord, listen and act! Do not delay for Your own sake, my God, for Your city and Your people are called by Your name.”

9:24-27, “Seventy weeks (sevens) are determined for your people and for your holy city (literal Jews and Jerusalem)…”Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the command to restore and build Jerusalem (445 BC)until Messiah the Prince, there shall be seven weeks and sixty-two weeks; the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublesome times.  And after the sixty-two weeks Messiah shall be cut off, but not for Himself; and the people of the prince who is to come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary. The end of it shall be with a flood, and till the end of the war desolations are determined. Then he shall confirm a covenant with many for one week; but in the middle of the week, He shall bring an end to sacrifice and offering (the abomination of desolation).”

“Messiah cut off” – the death of Jesus, then Jerusalem destroyed by Titus (70 AD) and the land swept as a flood (Bar Kokhba in 135 AD), followed by desolations and wars.  Then the Jews will be back in the land self-governing so to sign a treaty with the leader of residue of the Roman Empire (Daniel 2:40-41).

  1. Jesus Returns – Matthew 24:15, “Therefore when you see the ‘abomination of desolation,’ spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place” … 29, “Immediately after the tribulation of those days… all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.”

Zech 14:4, And in that day His feet will stand on the Mount of Olives, which faces Jerusalem on the east and the Mount of Olives shall be split in two… 5, Then you shall flee through My mountain valley… 9, And the Lord shall be King over all the earth.

  1. Purging (removal of non-believers) – Matt 24:38-39, …as in the days before the flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, and did not know until the flood came and took them all away.
  2. Israel Again – Zechariah 12:10, And I will pour on the house of David and on the inhabitants of Jerusalem the Spirit of grace and supplication; then they will look on Me whom they piercedYes, they will mourn for Him.

Isaiah 66:8, Who has heard such a thing?… Or shall a nation be born at once?

  1. A 1,000 Year Glorious Reign – Rev 20:2, …Satan, and bound him for a thousand years; 4, And they lived and reigned with Christ for a thousand years (Dan 12:2).

Daniel 9:24, To finish the transgression, to make an end of sins, to make reconciliation for iniquity, to bring in everlasting righteousness, to seal up vision and prophecy, and to anoint the Most Holy.

  1. All Sin Removed – Rev 20:7, Now when the thousand years have expired, Satan will be released from his prison… 12, And I saw the dead, small and great, standing before God, and books were opened… 15, And anyone not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire.
  2. A New World – Rev 21:1, Now I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away… 3, God Himself will be with them and be their God. 22:3, His servants shall serve Him. 5, they shall reign forever and ever.

Leviticus 23 Feasts and Prophecy

II Timothy 3:16, All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable

Leviticus 23:2: Speak to the children of Israel, and say to them: ‘The feasts of the LORD, which you shall proclaim to be holy convocations, these are My feasts.’

Sabbath

23:3, Six days shall work be done, but the seventh day is a Sabbath of solemn rest, a holy convocation. You shall do no work on it; it is the Sabbath of the LORD in all your dwellings.

  1. and 2. Passover and Unleavened Bread

23:5-7, On the fourteenth day of the first month at twilight is the LORD’s Passover. And on the fifteenth day of the same month is the Feast of Unleavened Bread to the LORD; seven days you must eat unleavened bread. On the first day you shall have a holy convocation; you shall do no customary work on it.

  1. Firstfruits

23:11, He shall wave the sheaf before the LORD, to be accepted on your behalf; on the day after the Sabbath the priest shall wave it. (on Sunday – this, in part, is why Sunday is the new Sabbath)

  1. Weeks

23:16, Count fifty days to the day after the seventh Sabbath; then you shall offer a new grain offering to the LORD.

  1. Trumpets

23:24, Speak to the children of Israel, saying: ‘In the seventh month, on the first day of the month, you shall have a sabbath-rest, a memorial of blowing of trumpets, a holy convocation.

  1. Day of Atonement

23:27, Also the tenth day of this seventh month shall be the Day of Atonement. It shall be a holy convocation for you; you shall afflict your souls, and offer an offering made by fire to the LORD.

  1. Tabernacles

23:34, Speak to the children of Israel, saying: ‘The fifteenth day of this seventh month shall be the Feast of Tabernacles for seven days to the LORD.’

Passover – John 18:28, Then they led Jesus from Caiaphas to the Praetorium, and it was early morning. But they themselves did not go into the Praetorium, lest they should be defiled, but that they might eat the Passover. [Jesus, who had already taken Passover (allowed early due to numbers), was now being tried, and on that day would die at 3:00 when the lambs were killed at the temple for the Passover meal (Exodus 12:6)]

Unleavened Bread – the first day of Passover – that week it was Friday – followed by the weekly Sabbath.

Firstfruits – I Corinthians 15:20, But now Christ is risen from the dead, and has become the firstfruits

Weeks – Acts 2:1, When the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.

Next up… Trumpets! – A call to assemble in prep for the most solemn of days, Feast #6, which is followed by a national campout, Feast #7 – a period of great festivity!

So, monumental events happened exactly on Feasts 1, 2, 3 = Jesus died, was buried, and rose from the dead.  Then on Feast #4, the church of the Holy Spirit’s work began.  So, why should we not think the last three feasts will also be very monumental?

As Feast #4 began the church (non-Jewish), it is logical to think that Trumpets (Feast #5, this year falls on Sept 6-8) will end the church age.  The trumpet call will be for Jesus’ bride to come to Him to a place He has prepared. This is called the Rapture – “snatched away” – how romantic!  The world will be left reeling and crumbling until the second coming of Jesus and His judgment on evil, nations, and Satan (Day of Atonement) followed by a 1,000-year festival (Tabernacles).
