According to Philippians 2:15, we live in a crooked (twisted/lying) and perverse (dark/immoral) generation (world/society).  If that is the case, we are surrounded by danger.  Are we aware?  Are we armored up and with eyes on Jesus constantly?  We should be!  The world is about rewriting, inventing and destroying (John 10:10) so we must be both aware and active spiritually.

Those around us have no problem denying truth, writing their own “truth”, promoting sin, and condemning God.  They have no problem “adjusting” reality to fit their idea of reality.

AFA recently reported that one American history book had thirty pages on the Pilgrims, Mayflower and Plimoth (sic) town without one reference to God.  Such is the mission of revisionists – remove from history anything of which they disapprove.  There was talk recently of expunging all the tweets, rallies, and actions of President Trump once he is out of office.  They will make it as if he never existed.  Such reminds me of the famous picture of Lenin with Trotsky standing by.  In time, Trotsky, who was eventually deemed an enemy of the state, was painted out of the picture.

Truth matters, but it can’t be my truth and your truth.

My hour can’t be 59 minutes and yours be 61 minutes.

My foot measurement can’t be 11.75 inches and yours be 11.9 inches.

So whose “truth” is it?  Yours?  Mine?  The masses?  The elites?  The wealthy?  Whose truth rules?

So, what will be the source of truth?  Without an outside standard, truth crumbles and life crumbles.  We are watching that happen these very days.

This is also true with history.  Is history changeable?  Should it be ignored?  Is history of any value?

God was quite diligent to give us history books – Genesis, Exodus, Numbers, Joshua, Judges, etc. and even Job and Lamentations.  Why?  Some think that those Bible books are the story of an ancient people that have little or no likeness to us today and thus of no impact today.  Rather, the stories today are what matter.  The “current history” is all that matters.  They believe that history that doesn’t fit their vision should be either modified or expunged.  Wrong!

II Peter 1:12-15, For this reason I will not be negligent to remind you always of these things, though you know and are established in the present truth.  Yes, I think it is right, as long as I am in this tent, to stir you up by reminding you, knowing that shortly I must put off my tent, just as our Lord Jesus Christ showed me.  Moreover, I will be careful to ensure that you always have a reminder of these things after my decease.

Peter, talking about reviewing history with them, says he will continue to do so and that it is even his desire that after his death they will still be students of history!

By the way, what is Communion about?  History!

Yes, we need to remember history!  We need to be history buffs and accurate ones!
