Where were you that beautiful fall day?
If older than seven – you know!
Four selected planes each sped away,
With people having places to go!
Suddenly, screams were on each flight!
Evil with knives took over each ship.
The terror in the cabin was a sight,
Each plane now on a different trip.
Plane one crashed into the north tower.
Then number two into the south one.
A third crashed the home of army power.
The fourth crashed in PA and was done.
NYFD people raced – a great fire to fight!
Frightened people fled to get far away.
The south fell – an unbelievable sight!
Followed by the north in the same way!
Many Americans died on that day,
And hundreds since in the War on Terror!
“Lest we forget” is what we say!
‘Tis the reason Ground Zero is there!
Lest we forget…
we have the Ground Zero memorial, the Pentagon memorial, and the Shanksville memorial – solemn places visited by many every day of the year.
Lest we forget…
the War on Terror, we have the Cpl Matthew Alexander Street across from our entrance, pictures of three boys we knew (or their mothers we knew) who died in the war posted on a foyer board, and we have the Arlington picture in the narthex.
Lest we forget! May we never forget!
