Mother, you have left me, promoted to God’s throne room
You embraced Jesus as Savior about the time I was born
You wanted a church on a mission – young lives to groom
While searching you came to know Jesus as your salvation horn
You were diligent to personally know and follow Jesus
Your study of and memorization of the Bible were daily
You were also driven to present the need of Jesus to us
Over time, all four accepted Jesus as their Savior freely
You and Dad made daily devotions a very big deal
You also made church life far more that Sunday only
Such a regiment would cause many a child to squeal
Not us – your love of Jesus was loud – never lonely
After we four had moved out, we didn’t leave your care
You and Dad maintained a diligent, daily devotion time
During that hour every one of us were lifted in prayer
You desired that my love and walk with Jesus would climb
Now that you have gone over to a place that is so fair
Your legacy is still a powerful force and blessing in my life
I know that when I die I’ll join you in His presence over there
Until then, your life will continue to mold me in the strife
Thank you, sweet Jesus, for paying Mom’s great sin debt
And thank you, dear Spirit, for opening her eyes to her need
And thank you, Lord, that you loved her and hug her yet
And thanks that the Christian life to joy and glory does lead
