The SSB Logo

The Standing Stone Bible Church (SSB) logo is that of a rugged rock mountain with a cross etched on its face sitting on an open Bible.  Such is a snapshot of SSB’s beliefs.

May it be a tool to explain to others our faith and love. The foundation for SSB’s beliefs, activities, and hopes is found in the leaves of the Bible.  On the pages of God’s Word are found truths about God, creation, man, how to live, sin, evil, justice, salvation and the means to pleasing God.  The open Bible is a hallmark of SSB and thus SSB is committed to knowing it so to comply with its teachings and be pleasing to God.

Then there is a massive granite mountain sitting on an open Bible.  This is a reminder that the Bible teaches us in Daniel 2:35 that Jesus is returning to the earth as an uncut stone to strike it, then grow into a great mountain covering the earth.

Etched on the mountain’s face is a cross that reminds us of Jesus’ first coming which was to die at the hands of sinful man for sinful man by His will.  On the cross Jesus took the just wrath of God for sin that God might be able to justly accept people who repent and submit to Him in faith, thus declaring them righteous and fit to live with Him forever.

You remember how the world powers had their way with Him the first time: the high priest and Sanhedrin, Pilate, Herod, and the Romans?  Well, that was then.  When Jesus returns (the uncut stone of Daniel 2:35) the earthly powers from the greatest to the least will be crushed to a powder and blown away and He will take total control of all earth’s peoples and places (the great mountain).  His reign on earth will be 1,000 years of justice, mercy, and grace (love) and there will be “peace on earth and goodwill toward men.”

To the right of the cross on the mountain appears to be an open tomb, for indeed it was and is open as Jesus only borrowed His tomb for three days and rose from the dead.  We believe that Jesus is the sole victor over death and the grave and thus the only way to eternal life with God in glory and goodness.  Jesus is the resurrection!

That same “opening” to the right of the cross is also a reminder of the crevice in the rock where God covered Moses as He passed by.  In such a crack Moses stepped and was covered so he could be near to God and not die (Exodus 33:21-23).  It reminds us of God’s rich grace that allows us to live under His eye and not be consumed.  It also teaches us that God is active in our world.

So, the SSB logo reminds us to keep our Bibles open, to stay focused on the cross as the only work that works – it alone saves, and to anticipate Jesus’ return to rule on the earth where sin, rebellion, evil, and selfishness will be ended as Satan will be removed, the world system ended, and man’s old nature ruled by a rod of iron.  It will be life on earth that the U.N. and mankind desires today.

May the logo serve SSB in the coming years to stay true to her God.  May the logo cause others to ask about it and we be able to clearly talk about “the way, the truth, and the life” being Jesus as revealed in the sacred pages of the Bible.
