Commercials

Recent TV commercials have been fun!  (Sometimes I don’t even know what they are advertising!)

>  The Baker Mayfield commercials about his house – FirstEnergy Stadium (where he plays football).  In one, he and his wife are sitting in the middle of a far section of the stands when she wants a soda. He dutifully goes across the field up the other side to a concession booth and gets it and returns to take a seat.  She then requests a straw and off he goes again.

>  The insurance commercial saying “We know a thing or two because we’ve seen a thing or two” talks about some strange and funny claims they covered.

>  Flo of Geico are usually pretty funny.

>  Then there is Mayhem – if he doesn’t create a lot of mayhem.

>  And what about the commercials with Brad Paisley and Peyton Manning with Peyton telling Brad what to sing and in what key?

>  There are the Aaron Rogers, his insurance agent, and his football agent commercials.  That sports agent is so full of himself, which I’m suspect is a pretty accurate depiction of that crowd.  (Aaron Rogers recently posted that he was raised in a Christian home but can’t agree with a faith that worships a God who tortures people eternally.  Sounds logical when one has a god that is very small thus making sins of rebellion, idolatry, and blasphemy very small.  But God is anything but small and thus sins against him are HUGE!  Furthermore, there is no repentance in Hell so the sins continue on for eternity and those doing so, do so gladly.  God is just!)

>  I’m humored by the KC QB Mahomes in the HyVee commercials.

>  The Ford F150 commercial hauling all the Christmas gifts in the back end which then stated, “And while you’re at it, bring the tree too” – very Christmasy.  The shot widened to reveal a massive tree being towed along.

>  I still find the two Sonic guys entertaining.

>  Recent Verizon commercials have shown traditional families – one with 6 kids!

I’m concerned about the Super Bowl commercials.  While there can some very entertaining – some can be offensive – have the remote in hand!

How about this commercial:
Psalm 19:1-4, The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament shows His handiwork. Day unto day utters speech, and night unto night reveals knowledge. There is no speech nor language where their voice is not heard.  Their line has gone out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world.

Our response:
Psalm 113:5-9, Who is like the Lord our God, Who dwells on high, Who humbles Himself to behold the things that are in the heavens and in the earth?  He raises the poor out of the dust, and lifts the needy out of the ash heap, that He may seat him with princes —With the princes of His people. He grants the barren woman a home, like a joyful mother of children.  Praise the Lord!
