Saved?

Colossians 2:6, As you therefore have received Christ the Lord.  Have you received Christ the Lord?  You can know!

II Cointhians 13:5-6, Examine yourselves as to whether you are in the faith. Test yourselves. Do you not know yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you?  Unless indeed you are disqualified.

Here is a test or check to see you are a true Christian using Colossians 1:3-8, We give thanks to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, praying always for you, since we heard of your faith in Christ Jesus and of your love for all the saints; because of the hope which is laid up for you in heaven, of which you heard before in the word of the truth of the gospel, 6 which has come to you, as it has also in all the world, and is bringing forth fruit, as it is also among you since the day you heard and knew the grace of God in truth; 7 as you also learned from Epaphras, our dear fellow servant, who is a faithful minister of Christ on your behalf, 8 who also declared to us your love in the Spirit.

Test 1. v. 4 “we heard of your faith.”  Are you accused of being a Christian?  Have people heard from you and seen in you a Christian change?  Has faith in Jesus changed you?

Test 2.  v. 4 “faith in Christ Jesus”… Do you talk Jesus – not just “God” or “Christ” or “church” – do you talk Jesus?  He is the reason you can be saved.  He is the reason God accepts you.  He is the reason you can call God, “Father.”  He is the reason you have hope – He left to prepare for you and is coming back for you.  He is the subject of the New Testament. Do you love and talk Jesus?

Test 3. v. 4 “love for all the saints.”  Do you love Christians?  Do you love being with Christians?  Do you love church?

Test 4. v. 5 “heard before…hope.”  Do you have hope?  Do you fear death or the hereafter?  The Bible reports victory over death and that Christ is in Heaven preparing for His own.  Those saved have hope.

Test 5. v. 5 “heard…word of the truth.”  Do you acknowledge that the truths of the Bible are what brought you to faith?  Do see the Bible as God’s revelation of Himself and His will?  Do you love the Bible?

Test 6. v. 6 “fruit, as it is also among you.”  Do you, with others, give glory to God for His grace and truth that brought forth your salvation?  Do you desire that others also come to salvation through faith in Jesus?

Test 7. v. 8 “declared to us your love.”  Do you love Paul?

Peter says of Paul – II Peter 3:15, As also our beloved brother Paul, according to the wisdom given to him, has written to you, as also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things, in which are some things hard to understand.  Some that Paul writes is hard, yet he writes for God.  Consider:

Romans 3:10-11, As it is written: “There is none righteous, no, not one; There is none who understands; There is none who seeks after God.  They have all turned aside; They have together become unprofitable; There is none who does good, no, not one.”  Your dear, sweet grandmother is not righteous outside of Jesus.  That precious little niece is not righteous apart from Jesus.  No one’s good is acceptable to God!

Romans 5:10, For if when we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son.  We were enemies of God!  Uncle Joe who regularly goes to church and gives money to the church is God’s enemy if not saved by faith in Jesus.   The only way to not be an enemy is by embracing the sacrifice of Jesus.

Romans 6:22, But now having been set free from sin, and having become slaves of God.  Being set free from our past is to be a slave of God – freedom to serve – freedom to slavery!

I Corinthians 7:10-11, Now to the married I command, yet not I but the Lord: A wife is not to depart from her husband. But even if she does depart, let her remain unmarried or be reconciled to her husband. And a husband is not to divorce his wife.  If a wife leaves, she can’t remarry. A husband cannot divorce his wife.

Do you love Paul?

So, how did you do with the test?  Are you saved?  If not, today is the day!
