At the Grand Canyon Maswik Lodge Sunday morning, May 26, I looked at all 53 TV channels and did not find one religious program – not one! Yet, there was talk about Mormons over and over throughout the tour days.
Also, there was no Gideon Bible at the Grand Canyon lodge (We shouldn’t be surprised for it is our godless government running the place!). However, the Gideon Bible was found at all other stops and NO book of Mormon. (I lay the Bible open on the bed and leave a monetary tip in it. I don’t much care to what passage it is opened for it is God’s Word and it is inspired and does not return to Him void!)
On the bus Monday we watched a short movie about the Navajo men who were used by all 6 division of Marines in the Pacific during WWII to code messages for our commanders. Over and over they talked about praying and trusting in their god (mother earth). There was talk of the spiritual men – medicine men – praying over them and committing them to their god as they went off to war. But, nothing about Christ or Christianity.
Furthermore, there was chatter all along about where it all came from – millions of years ago. Nature shifted, settled, heaved and shrunk, burped and coughed, and pressed and from that came mountains, canyons, cracks, mesas, deserts, pillars, and all. Scientists got tons of press for they know – they were there or they can accurately read the rocks – so they were esteemed. (We have no argument with lab science, just with historical science.) Yet, God, Who claims to have made it, controls it, and was there both then and now, got no mention. It seems that He should at least get a comment.
There was religious talk aplenty, just nothing about true Christianity – the Jesus Who is God, created it all and sustains it all, greatly altered the face of the earth in the worldwide flood of judgment, lived a sinless life, died for sins, and was raised from the grave in victory over the curse.
So sad for a country that at one time openly and often talked of and to God.
