Message Notes (1-27-2019)

I have reviewed the message of January 27th two times at our Facebook page under videos and decided to jot some notes to post for future thought – here goes:

Stone #1  A ladder with ministering spirits moving showed that God was active in our world and then God spoke to Jacob.  We have set apart this property at 321 S 6 in 68028 to God.

Stone #2  Entering into deals, we are very careful about keeping our word.

Stone #3  Back at Bethel there was a funeral, God affirmed Jacob’s new identity, and there was a reminder of God’s promise.  It was a place of Communion – of worship.

Stone #4  At Mt. Sinai there was a rededication to God.

Stone #5  Joshua took the next generation and went through God’s word with them and called for their commitment to love and obey God fully.

“Be careful about pushing your kids – demanding that your kids be Christian.”  “Don’t tell them they’re saved. It’s not your job.” Romans 8:16.

Stone #6  A stone of Thanksgiving – every Sunday saying, “Thank you, God.”

Stone #7  Don’t mess with history!  The 1828 Webster Dictionary – do not change what the fathers gave us!

  • And, Jesus put behind a stone – which was cast aside – planted? standing?  Mary came “while the dew was still on the roses.” “He walked with me and He talked with me.”  The Stone rejected was standing in a cemetery victorious – Hallelujah!  Cemeteries lose!
  • Pastors are trained, called, and sent (unlike elders).

Serve as Examples (I Timothy 6:11-14) – live a life that exemplifies the calling

Organize (I Timothy 3:15) – how you ought to conduct yourself in a worship service

Teach and Guard Doctrine (I Timothy 3:16)

  • The Spirit drove Him into the wilderness – just the opposite of the first Adam.  The stark reality of what sin has done to mankind is seen in those two pictures – Eden and with Christ in the wilderness.  First Adam was surrounded by happy animals, much food, and sweet fellowship.
  • Matthew 18:10 – “little ones – their angels” – talking about born again ones, not tykes.
  • Preached repent and believe, Mark 1:15.  One coin with 2 sides – mercy and grace.  Mercy gets me out of the big house and grace gets me into the big house – out of prison and into the mansion. He does not get us out so to wander the streets, live under bridges, and dumpster dive.
  • Too often today it is a ransom with no captivity, love with no wrath, grace with no sin, freedom with no slavery, mercy with no wrong, Heaven with no Hell, or joy with no pain. We cast aside the negative and thus dilute the positive.
  • Romans 7:7, Paul changes pronouns.  Age of Accountability – time when the light comes on – early on do things and think nothing of it (a red light comes on, put black electricians tape over it – that is how you fix old cars!)
  • XES Ed – beware for it awakens desire!  “Don’t awaken love prematurely”, Song of Solomon 2:7
  • When I’m told “No” I want to go out and do it.  The Law keeps me from being badder – I like badder – especially lemon cake batter.
  • The Law sets a very, very high bar.  I don’t have to achieve it for in Christ I have achieved it in Him, but the bar/Law helps me know how to obey the Lord and how to live pleasing to Him.
  •  Beatitudes are great parenting stuff!
  • Acts 2:36, I killed Jesus.  Looking at me in the mirror with the light off shows me as pretty good.  Then the light comes on – Oh No!  What do I do?  Go to the perfume counter at Van Maur?  Get a mask at Nobbies?
  • He puts me in a body – GOT A B explained.
