I remember the week between Christmas and New Year’s 1969 (it might have been 1970) – 50 years ago – WOW!
I was a yardmaster in North Platte working the east end spotting cattle at the stock yards, parking local loads, and working the passenger trains and it was cold. Most of the week was lows around 20 below and highs around zero – COLD!
I would take the pinner (an engine helper) and work outside for 10 to 15 minutes then the foreman and field man would work outside for 10 to 15 minutes then we would all sit in the engine for a spell and drink coffee. It was COLD!
This weather reminds me of those days except I’m not being paid to be outside so I’m not struggling with guilt.
My Dad says that weather like this will bunch the flies.
