There is a river whose streams shall make glad the city of God. Psalm 46:4
Bubbling, bouncing, dancing, skipping, singing, happy waters made by God for our pleasure!
God is vastly complex, beyond comprehension and different than we humans, yet He has given us some characteristics that allow us to connect with Him.
- Some of those characteristics include the desire for love and oh, how the triune God loves! John 3:16 and Romans 5:5 – love is shed abroad in our lives
- God lives in perfect joy and we see mankind labor for and strive for joy – living for the weekend and the swooning event. Yet in His presence is the fullness of joy, Psalm 16:11.
- Man wants peace – perfect peace. Because it is a mark of God. The future of the Godly is peace (Psalm 37:37) with the Prince of Peace (Isaiah 9:6)!
- Man loves beauty – in a person, a scene, a garden, and other. Psalm 27:4, Oh, to behold the beauty of the Lord!
- And purpose – man needs purpose, goals, worth. “And the soul felt its worth!” God is a Being of vision, plans, execution of plans and destiny. John 14 – I go to prepare for you and will come for you and you will be with me – WOW!
There are other things that point to God (like thinking, laughing, and creating), but let us pause and ponder the pleasure of repetition (or Review, Review, Review!).
A little child teaches us – “Do it again!”
Recently, I was sucked into playing “Ring around the Rosie” with granddaughters. Like how many times does one need to fall down before something starts to hurt? But… “Do it again” was the chant!
And God? “Do it again!”
God says, “Do it again!” to His people:
…to His people taking Communion.
…to His people gathered in love and unity.
…to His people publicly loving, adoring and exalting Him together – worshipping Him.
…to His people forgiving and forgiving.
…to His people giving and giving.
…to His people praying.
…to His people talking about Him to those lost.
…to His people, God says, “Do it again!”
And why not?
God pours out mercy, grace and keeps His word exactly on a daily basis (Lamentations 3)!
And even on a moment-by-moment basis – He does it over and over – again and again!
So, God sets up the “Do it again!” often heard from little ones.
And He expects older ones to also exclaim, “Do it again!”
Like, “Do it again” with thanks for food! Thanks for clothing! Thanks for housing! Thanks for health! Thanks for glasses! Thanks for gasoline! Thanks for plumbing! And… “Do it again!”
May we be “Do it again” people with our God!
