September 17 is a monumental day in the history of the world.

It was not the introduction of smart phones or computers or calculators, or typewriters.

It was not the beginning of hydraulics or gasoline engines or steam power or hydro-power.

It was not the introduction of the drone or the jet or the rocket or the airplane or the glider or the hot air balloon.

It was not the unveiling of the LED or CFR’s or lasers or halogen lights or incandescent bulbs.

[Speaking of introducing or unveiling:  I remember the second week of October in the 50’s and 60’s when the auto dealerships would cover their windows to put the new models on the showroom floor for a grand unveiling.  Ford somewhat started the end of the annual excitement when they unveiled the pony car – the Mustang – in April of 1964 – a 64 ½ model.  Now new models are often out in the Fall but they can also come out about any time.]

Back to September 17 being monumental:  It was September 17, 1787 when our Founders unveiled a new model of government – a republic form of government.  [We are not a democracy nor are we a monarchy or oligarchy as some past Presidents have believed and have been allowed to practice.]

September 17 introduced a Republic from of government which even to this day – 231 years later – works and is amazing – never bettered!

And may it be said clearly – may it be said confidently – may it be said loudly:  The United States stands as exceptional in the annuls of history for she has given her people rights, privileges, and authority unlike any nation before.  And under those provisions, her people have flourished like no other group of people before.  And she has served both as a model and a promoter of human rights, national sovereignty, and beacon of hope to the world.  The USA has defended nations under attack and over ran without ever claiming or demanding property or rights.  Furthermore, she has rebuilt the “evil empires” that attacked her and built and rebuilt nations undeserving mostly at the cost of her own citizens.

Yes, the United States has been and is a rare jewel – she is exceptional and we have been richly, incredibly, wonderfully blessed to dwell here.  I am deeply thankful for God’s gifting our forefathers and guiding them to draft the Constitution that brought about these United States!

Happy Birthday, Constitution!  You have served us so very well and we are so very blessed!  We thank our God for you.  Please, please continue to be a lamp for us for many years to come!
